The past is the present for future generations who do not know their history

Polly Turner Worley…

is known to the Shoals area as a former teacher and Principal at Southwest Elementary in Sheffield, Alabama.

Mrs. Worley was born on August 27, 1914 and passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. She lived near the school in Sheffield, but was last known to live in Tuscumbia, Alabama.

She completed her elementary and high school education. She received her B.S. degree from Delta State College, Cleveland, Mississippi, and taught school in Memphis, Tennessee. before moving to Sheffield where she furthered her

education at Florence State College and Peabody College, Nashville, Tennessee. She died in April and following a private service for the family and a brief graveside service, she was interred at Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield.
